Awesome florist! My husband and I stopped in on our way to our courthouse wedding needing a last minute hand-tied bouquet and boutineer. We picked out random flowers we liked, and the florist arranged them so beautifully. I was shocked at how fabulous they turned out! And in 30 minutes, no less! I was so glad that I waited until the last minute, because it turned out so much better than if I were to have pre-ordered a cookie-cutter bouquet from a cookie-cutter florist. Plus, the shop was so cute, and the employees were so... read more
Holy smokes. I live so close to this place, I can't believe I didn't visit until now! It's absolutely breathtaking inside! Wandering the stone pathways within this greenhouse is like a therapeutic experience-- tropical colors, lush green, flowers of all kinds, and healthy plants! There's a small pond in the center filled with fish and a little Japanese bridge that runs over the stream. Much to my surprise there was also a big tropical bird hanging out in the trees. While browsing the greeting cards, I kept on hearing a ch... read more
This place, while a bit pricey, rocks. The hubby and I went to get some houseplants for our new abode, and even the ambiance in the store is welcoming and inviting. Arriving at ten minutes to closing time we expected to be shooed out the door, but were instead welcomed to shop at our leisure. We found a ton of stuff, and the woman that helped us was fabulous. Not only was she extraordinarily friendly, but she had an encyclopedic knowledge of all of the plants in the store and how to care for them. She even re-potted the two... read more
When I heard the delivery guy tell our receptionist that he had a ton of flowers for a bunch of people in my office, my eyes widened and I got all excited.... Did my boyfriend surprise me with sunflowers and daisies? Is my father sending me a dozen to tell me he loves me? Do I have a stocker that likes to spend money on me even though it is creepy? I was obviously hoping the flowers were for me... I can admit that... I wanted them in my office and I wanted people to walk by and say, "Wow, what beautiful flowers.... Did y... read more
Sturtz & Copeland used to be pure magic. The employees, before the move, genuinely loved plants and it showed - we shopped here very often for our garden, for table flowers, for gifts (nearly every week). Since Sturtz and Copeland moved, the store has become a glorified gift shop and the employees at the front counter seem annoyed with any question whatsoever. The women at the counter seem terribly uninterested in flowers or plants of any sort, and they cannot be bothered to rise from their chairs to offer guidance - there i... read more
Business response:
It’s tough to read that the shop no longer feels like the place you loved, especially after so many weekly visits and good memories. We’re sorry the front counter came across as annoyed and unhelpful, and that the plant selection felt limited compared to before the move. Your notes about warmth, guidance, and the overall balance of plants vs. gifts are clear, and we’ll be using them to improve. We’re also sorry the wedding flowers didn’t hold up as you expected. If you’re open to it, please contact us directly so we can lear... read more
After 31 years, I'm done. The last three experiences at Sturtz & Copeland have been awful. I've been a loyal patron for three decades. I went to them to do all the flowers at my wedding, have bought many house plants from them over the course of these three decades, etc but these last three instances will make me never patronize their establishment ever again. 1. I bought their bagged soil for indoor house plants to replenish the soil in all my pots. I even asked them about fungus gnats to which the employee confidently st... read more
I feel horrible leaving a revue like this because I wish the best for people. Especially people who have small local businesses. I have a small business myself and I know the importance of going above and beyond to keep customers happy so that they won't resort to going to some big chain. I have lived in Boulder for twenty plus years and the reputation of this shop has always been above and beyond, that is, until I looked at the reviews today, thinking that maybe I was being too harsh. I now see that I'm not the only one fe... read more
I went with them, based on the reviews. I couldn't have been more disappointed. Was hoping for colorful springtime bouquet for my daughter's sorority to have in the house during Easter/Passover weekend. It was delivered on time but it was drab and dark, and looked like flowers were just stuck in a vase with lots of green filler, not a lot of color. Very disappointed, especially as I had ordered the largest size. It sounds like this may be the store to go to if you're putting together your own bouquets or have a plant to... read more
S&C is, essentially, the only tent in town when it comes to a "high-end" greenhouse in Boulder, CO. Recently, we suffered a death in our family that prompted numerous gifts of sympathy from around the globe. We received a flowering plant from an important client and friend of the family delivered from S&C. The plant not only arrived without a single bloom, it never bloomed. Instead, it became an energetic thorn in our side as we spent time tending to it according to all the instructions, and then some. Finally, we called to ... read more
