Do not order from out of state or area. My experience included their sending a very sad, non mature orchid to my recipient. Not the phalaenopsis they said it was. Only one blossom. I was so embarrassed by the photo my friend sent me. When I asked them to rectify the situation and sent the photo to them they agreed it was poor. We asked for them to simply send the plant that we ordered and is shown on their website. I have been a loyal customer of Sturtz & Copeland for the last 15 years. I recently relocated to Canada and wanted to send a bouquet to a loved one back in Boulder. For me it was a no brainer, Sturtz is the best in town and they would get it right. To my disappointment the bouquet that was delivered did not have the yellow roses I had originally chosen the bouquet for. They were replaced by inexpensive yellow carnations. This place has TERRIBLE service: I had to stand around until 2 women behind the counter stopped their conversation; then Connie, who was "helping" me, treated me like a moron, being snotty and impatient. I asked to have the plants delivered within 24 hours TO AN ADDRESS AROUND THE CORNER A HALF BLOCK AWAY, for which I paid $12.50, telling Connie that the business would be closed between 2-3. First, I have to say that I was thrilled to find out they carried only bee safe flowers! However, finding prices was difficult, help was non existing, and when it came time to check out, oh boy what a cluster jam! After waiting in a short line, it was my turn. No "hello how are you", "did you find everything ok", just the two workers talking to each other. I came to this place to buy all the plants for my house, I've spent over 500 dollars, that said I realized after more research how expensive this place was compared to other gardens in the area. After one week one of my plants were in really bad shape, it's a kind of plant I always had and always cared for. I am not a botanist (clearly), but I think that these responses from the Sturtz & Copeland saleslady can be improved upon. Me: "Does this type of tree shed much?" Saleslady who seems to dislike me severely, although I'm sure we've never met: "It's a tree. If it's not properly taken care of, it will shed." Ok. I've been looking for several plants to fill my new house and patio. I have a cat and small dog so I need a variety of plants that aren't toxic (having just learned my favorite flower, the lily, is extremely toxic to cats). I used sturtz as my wedding florist because I considered them to be the best florist in Boulder. My initial consultation went wonderfully however the flowers that arrived on my wedding day in no way shape or form resembled what I had asked for.
